Lore
Life in the Pikaverse began with two divine beings roaming the cosmos: Kayra, the Goddess of Life, and Nu Wa, the Goddess of Death. In their purest essence, these sisterly deities worked symbiotically to maintain the delicate balance of existence, with Kayra breathing life into creation, while Nu Wa would ensure its inevitable demise.
For millennia, Kayra would discover planets that harnessed potential for nurturing life. This then led to the creation of diverse cosmic species that brought her immense joy. Nu Wa, on the other hand, being bound by the duty of ending existence, would reluctantly step in to conduct her morbid role when needed. Whilst this cycle would preserve the balance of the Pikaverse, it also deepened Nu Wa’s sorrow for Kayra, as her devotion to her godly responsibilities couldn’t surpass the love that she had for her sister.
The Pikaverse changed forever when Kayra discovered a planet named Dreva. Teeming with possibilities, Kayra dedicated thousands of years to refining the planet’s ecosystems so that it could support life. Ultimately, humanity was able to be born on Dreva - a population of sentient, self-aware beings that were capable of reciprocating their creator’s love. Defying natural orders, Kayra begged Nu Wa to make humanity an exception by sparing it from its inevitable death…a compromise that the begrudged sister eventually agreed to, under the provision that they could still perish through means that weren’t natural causes. More pivotally, this disruption - which tipped the Pikaverse in favor of life - would cause an imbalance throughout the cosmos… an imbalance that could only be restored through a deathly rebalancing.
Through mastering the elements and achieving feats that could only be done through intelligence, consciousness, and empathy, humans first flourished on Dreva, most notable through the Bethulian empire that was established. However throughout this progress, the dark side of mankind eventually shone through, as greed and conflict began fracturing the institutions that stabilized the civilisation. Despite being heartbroken by this reality, Kayra still refused Nu Wa’s pleas to restore balance through natural death. Instead, she created the Pikaverse’s first Pikamoon, Sol, in order to deliver an otherworldly order of peace to the planet.
Sol arrived on Dreva with the mission of spreading unity, however in the regions where the nefarious and blasphemous ambitions of the Bethulian empire deeply festered, darkness prevailed to a point where not only was her peace proposal rejected, but her life was also put in serious danger. As tension mounted across the planet, this eventually led to the fateful day wherein Sol was put to the sword by an army of Bethulian barbarians.
Within this ensuing chaos, Sol, in her final moments, reached out to Kayra in a final plea to save humanity. In answering these calls, the Goddess of Life hid children of Dreva’s fallen soldiers away and out of sight, imbuing Sol’s essence within them. Here, The Lost Ones were created.
Nonetheless, human destruction continued on Dreva, prompting Nu Wa to finally restore balance by birthing a second Pikamoon, Umbra. Umbra arrived on Dreva with the unilateral goal of vengefully eradicating humanity… and in wake of his relentless destruction, the planet was reduced to a barren, lifeless wasteland, stripped of all hope and vitality.
Although life began to heal and resurrect on Dreva, shaking the lingering scars of its past will take millennia. Here, the Lost Ones await their return, while Umbra slumbers in the shadows, waiting to complete the lifeless destiny in which Nu Wa yearns for.
