Bethulians

Standing as Dreva’s first pinnacle of human achievement was the Bethulian civilization, a vast kingdom so powerful it seemed destined to rule forever. With unimaginable wealth and influence at its disposal - underpinned by a lineage of ruthless royals that sought to eradicate anything that stood in its way - the Bethulian empire was once comprised of a colossal collection of cities and towns, all of which interconnected by an unwavered loyalty to the crown.

Despite wielding unimaginable wealth, unbeatable armies, and inescapable influence as far as the eye could see, the Bethulian’s relentless pursuit of power inadvertently became its downfall. This is because with sights once set on absolute world domination, its tyrants made the fateful decision to dispose of the Pikaverse’s first ever Pikamoon, Sol.

Upon its arrival on Dreva, Sol’s presence did nothing but anger the Bethulian empire as it inched closer to achieving its world-dominating ambitions. Therefore, instead of restoring harmony as it intended, Bethulian Rulers ordered its barbarians to annihilate Sol before its healing powers could spread… a command that was met with success amid a blood-fuelled battle between man and Pikamoon.

Unbeknownst to these mere humans, to mess with Sol was to mess with the Pikaverse’s sacred deities themselves. This, of course, was due to Sol being a manifestation of Kayra, who had been put on Dreva in a bid to reunite humanity through its magical healing powers.

With this in mind, what followed was a story of restoring cosmic equilibrium, as for balance to prevail, the reckless ego-fuelled actions of the Bethulian civilization had to be met with an equal and opposite force. To do so, the wrath of Nu Wa - Kayra’s sisterly deity and the Goddess of Death - was awakened, which entailed the creation of a second Pikamoon, Umbra. Through embodying an equal - albeit opposite - essence to that of Sol, Umbra arrived on Dreva to restore balance through a merciless means that only the Bethulians could match; the complete extermination of all life on Dreva.

Satisfied with its obliteration of life, as well as its transformation of Dreva’s lush landscapes into lifeless shells, Umbra now lays submerged under Dreva’s barren planes, hidden in a quiet slumber.
